Post Question about elk meat and bones
Last night my friend asked me if I want some bones...can't remember if he said elk or moose. For some reason I think he said moose, but it is probably elk. So my question is, will feeding the dogs the elk meat I got before and elk bones make a difference in how much kibble I feed? Should I feed less TOTW(High Prairie) because they are getting the meat and bones? I am just trying to figure it out before I get the bones here. Not sure if they will have any meat on them or not, but probably not. So if not would they be considered recreational bones? Also, I just heard that marrow in bones is fatty, and my dogs do not process fat well(get the runs) so I need to know if that is true because I will have to take the marrow out if it is. I obviously dont feed raw, but guess I should have an idea about it since I am giving them these other foods.

Thanks in Advance!

If there is a significant amount of meat then yes cut back on kibble.
If not then treat them as recreational.
As for the marrow bone I don't know.

But over all... :o I am green with Envy! That is great that they will be trying out elk.

Danielle, they have actually been trying for about a week. I put an ad on CraigsList for my surrounding areas and some guy called and gave us about 10 lbs. There were steaks and roasts. It is going to actually last quite awhile because of not feeding raw. I want to try to make elk jerky for them too :)
