 I think I goofed
I have had my dogs on raw for a few months now-well 50/50. They get thier kibble in the morning and raw at night. Lately I have been spacing out and not getting their dinner out to thaw. Did it again yesterday. I also have yet to get beef into the mix-it has been too expensive here lately. So last night I thought 'I will boil this hamburg to get all the grease out and they can have that with their kibble" I boiled it and double rinsed it. This morning I have not been out yet to see the results, but I have a Baaaaadd feeling about it. Wish I had given this brainstorm of mine more thought before I fed it to them last night. I fully expect at the very least some super soft stools out there today. Kinda makes me dread daylight!

Bev, I just woke up so bear with me as I think I understand your concern.
You're concerned that you fed them boiled ground meat with their kibble?? It's something I've done before when they were on kibble. I also will boil ground meat or chix and feed it with rice for bland diet.
I wouldn't worry, though. Even being on a 1/2 raw diet will change their poops. I would go back to normal feeding schedule and go from there. And if they are constipated there are home remedies to help fix that.

 Re: I think I goofed
you could give your dog raw ground beef. are you near any food companies (distributers, wholesalers)? you could buy your raw food there for wholesale. you could also buy your chicken, beef, pork, etc. there.
i think your dog is going to fine. i don't think the ground beef is going to bother him.

I wouldn't worry unless they've had a bad reaction to beef in the past. Ground cooked beef is usually pretty easy on the stomach.

 Re: I think I goofed
I've personally never had problems with cooked ground beef either. I usually mix that with rice when I put the pups on a bland diet (either that or ground turkey...they do better with the ground meats). I also feed ground meat raw when I take them on trips as it is easiest to separate when I am on the road.
On a side note...if you forget to thaw, you can always put a bag of raw in some hot water to thaw a little bit. I usually feed the dogs partially frozen anyway and there have been a few times where I forget as well and haven't bothered with the hot water trick.

 Re: I think I goofed
Thanks for all the replies...and I apologize for not getting back to this thread before now. What happened when I fed the the boiled hamburg was they has loose stools. No big deal because the next eve they were back on schedule with their normal meals and all has been fine. I just hate it when I forget to set out their dinner to thaw!
