 OCD linked to canine gene Friend sent me this link and I thought this was pretty cool. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/01/19/science/19dogs.html?ref=scienceI wonder if this genetic link is breed related or flank sucking related... Still think there is HUGE possibilities with this and animal compulsive disorders.

Re: OCD linked to canine gene I just glanced through the article, and really had a glimmer of hope for a moment. I wonder tho, what other behaviors dogs exhibit that are considered OCD.

Re: OCD linked to canine gene Most behaviorists, etc. will define canine OCD behaviors as anything that becomes repetitive to the point it affects the animal's well being. For example: tail chasing/spinning, excessive licking (can actually start from something like an allergy), flank sucking (like in the article), fly snapping. Some dogs can develop a unique compulsive disorder, but these are the most common.

I've only had dogs with excessive compulsive stupidity but I don't think that counts.
