Re: The Official 2010 Training Challenge!
Let us know how it goes if you do! It's fun in the sense that it's not as strict as formal AKC or Schutzhund. I don't know about you but I have so many BIG issues outside of the dog world to deal with that training needs to be made as simplistic as possible right now. Perhaps down the road when my situation is more relaxed I can devote the time I need to tracking and such but I will more than likely just wait many more years for another dog as once I train Jaeger it will be too hard to "undo" him. He can get a BH with what he learns through AKC. He won't look as "kewl" as the Schutzhund dogs but he can achieve one nonetheless.

Re: The Official 2010 Training Challenge!
I wish I had a picture of Kona and I doing our BH here at work "kewl" is not the way I would describe it....The best is when I start barrelling down the field and Kona is about 5 or 6 ft behind me. Worst part is that I had no idea. I only found out when I looked at the pictures.

I'm calling today today to get put on the list for class. Should be interesting since we haven't been to class in months. LOL!

We took the class! We liked it.
Rogue followed my commands but I think I sould of tried her off leash. she seems to do better off leash.
Trainer said would be good for Max too, even do trials since he wouldn'thave to interacti with other dogs.
Think part of my refund will be used to by the cards/stands so we can work daily! wooHoo, think I might have found something we all like to do!

Re: The Official 2010 Training Challenge!
Checking in. How are we doing with our goals this year so far?? Have to admit that I have done nothing with Eyra in terms of Schutzhund training since last year But fear not we have not been idle . We have decided to pursue Wilderness Search and Rescue (wilderness rescue, water and cadaver). We are having a blast!!! We also play around a bit with disaster work (rubble piles) under the watch full eye of a disaster team trainer. So much fun. Have not given up on SchH, we will go back and do her SchH3 at some point, but that is not our primary focuse right now. So...what is everyone else up to so far this year???

Re: The Official 2010 Training Challenge!
I think Annabelle is going for her CGC this month.
Jaeger should be trialling for a Rally Novice leg on July 4th. Hopefully by then he will be ready. He is now getting to where he may not be 100% sure about the commands but you can see them clicking. I love when that happens! Makes all the training worth it!
Maiya is up for the couch potato of the year award, and she is runner up for the "pet most able to cover more square footage of floor in vomit" medal, beat out only by our cat Matt and his hairballs.
Other than that all is going smoothly!

Re: The Official 2010 Training Challenge!
Dottie: beginner agility trials in the fall. I'm starting to feel more and more confident about my ability to handle her and manage her nerve. She is almost ring ready, I think ... Obie: whatever he wants to do ... which is probably nothing. He might be interested in the "Coach potato of the year" award too ... but if he has to work at it to win, then forget it lol. Ike: just regular training. I don't think he will be ready for anything for a long time. Watch out for Ike in 2013!!!

Re: The Official 2010 Training Challenge!
I am so glad Eyra's SAR training is going well!!! Well regardless of Kona's true medical issue, protection work and jumping are out for a few months - maybe even longer SOOOO, we have had to alter our goals a little for 2010. NEW Kona Goals - TR1, TR2 and TR3....if I am really stretching I am hoping to get an FH in the fall.... ; also, I would like to get some AKC OB and TR titles on her if I can...that is a lower priority. Duke - he is actually coming to training with me this weekend to work on exercises for the TDI. Tony - becoming more and more cat like every day. I swear he is going to start coughing up hair balls. Not from grooming himself, but Duke

Re: The Official 2010 Training Challenge!
I didn't post goals before...but Levi finished up his HRDI, HTDI, and RLFI titles (all AHBA - which I am liking more than AKC herding right now). Leyna is half way to hers. They both have done great. Training is sporadic right now as we are back and forth to Tahoe a bit and while in Tahoe I haven't gotten into a training routine because we have been so busy (and, I don't have a crate up North yet and it is too hard to train two dogs without one). But, the good news is there aren't any immediate trials so I have some time.

Re: The Official 2010 Training Challenge!
I didn't post any goals, so here is my list.
Jeni-Hoping to achieve her FDCH Gold (Flyball Dog Champion) title, she currently has Silver.
Jessi- She has 6 legs toward her UDX title, she needs 4 more, so hoping to receive just 2 more this year, only plan on attending one more trial with her in October. So next year, hopefully she will have her UDX.
Bandit-Aw, he is a retired, my goals for him is to continue acting silly, clownish, never a dull moment with him, definitely not a couch potato dog.
Jarie- My bubble dog, with all her health issues, our goal is to keep her being as healthy as possible, and becoming best friends with the puppy.
Annie- She will be here in just 2 weeks! Our goals are to start Obedience training, Agility training, socialize, socialize, train, train, socialize. Be well mannered enough to spend her days with Ken at work, and Show in her first conformation show this October.

So far Ghost and I are slacking but, seeing as he's not allowed in our backyard until like...July maybe it will push me to get off my exhausted butt and do something I'm still hoping to get his reactivity under control so that we can go to the SPCA walk in the fall.

Re: The Official 2010 Training Challenge!
I was hoping to do the BH in June at the clubs trial, but we won't be ready. I have stepped back in the obedience, and am working on better focus when we are in different venues. Home is great, out and about, not so much. gender, age, and my handling skills to blame! Tracking and protection are at the pace I like. I want to get Onyx back into something, agility or herding, just for fun. I just heard about a place nearby that does tending so am checking it out! Right now just trying to keep ticks off these three is a challenge! Wish we could let the chickens free range....
